13 miles...nothing but the pavement and my thoughts

So I ran (and by ran I mean ran and walked) 13.1 miles yesterday. It wasn't my first mini marathon and it definitely wasn't the best I trained for but I actually felt really good while completing this race.
When you are out on the course running alone it gives you a lot of time to think. And for me having a lot of time to think isn't always a good thing but this time it was. I realized a few things while running:

1. I am a lot stronger than I thought I was.
2. Slow and steady may not always win the race but they complete the race and I'm okay with that.
3. There are a lot of people that have strange ways of running but to each his own...someone may say I look odd running.
4. The outfit really does make a difference. I looked good so I felt good.:-)
5. Some people are really creative with their sign making. Some favorites:
*Don't forget you paid to do this
*Picture of Ryan Gosling saying hey            girl...I'm waiting for you at the finish line (that was a lie)
*Some are not appropriate to post but they made me laugh
6. Listening to music makes all the difference while running.
7. I have a lot of sappy songs on my phone....that needs to change.
8. When someone is standing there cheering you on....it pushes you further than you thought. (Thankful to have so many cheering me on in life)
9. I really can do anything through Christ. There were many times I called on him....mile 5, mile 7, mile 11,12,13, and point 1.
10. I'm really never alone on my race in life. I have a loving God, amazing family, and fabulous friends.

Some of these thoughts may be funny, and some may be cheesy but they were all thoughts that went through my head.
Seriously. 13.1 miles all alone with nothing but my thoughts....
